Two Months

So it looks like I am averaging a post about every 2 months. Maybe I should call this the “2 Month Blog”. It is more than a blog though. It gives me a playground for experiment with some php, css, html and Wordpress and bring that knowledge back to my position at Adams State.
I have been using a lot of Twitter lately and decided to add my Twitter feed to my blog. Did a little styling on it and am happy with the way it turned out. Feel free to hit me up @mhendersonco.
I guess I really need a direction I want to take this blog. Whether that be personal, professional or both. Not too concerned about it at this point. That’s all for now. Until next month or more like April :). Hopefully not that long.

Now with Snow!

mikehend.com now improved with snow. I know this isn’t much of a technical improvement but after visiting wordpress.com the other day I decided to the same thing here. I thought about changing the blog to reflect the weather in Alamosa, maybe a future installment. I will deffinetly keep it up after Jan 2 though. I don’t think it has the same effect as Christmas lights.

Update

A lot has happened since my last post. I am posting again to show that this site is still active and being maintained. I have since started a new position at Adams State College as a Web Application Developer. So long story short a lot has been happening in my life recently.
I have been trying to figure out what exactly is the content of this blog is going to be. The main purpose has been designing and installing with WordPress, that has no use to anyone else but me.
I am working on a WordPress MU install for Adams State. As I become more familiar with this appliance I can post more about it.
I guess all I have to say is stay tuned. . .

Paper Coffee Cups

When drinking out of paper coffee cups one should not squeeze too hard. Recently my trip to Alamosa has been extended so I didn’t have my regular arsenal of reusable coffee cups. If I knew I would be staying longer I might have considered packing one on my motorcycle, but space is a luxury. My girlfriend doesn’t know yet how to pack light so it might have not worked anyway. Long post short, a little squeeze of the bottom of the cup and bam! Good thing I was almost done, some quick actions with a napkin and trip to the trash all is well.

Can you say, learning process?

Wow, so setting up WordPress is real easy right? Yes it is but, I seem to make things complicated. First of all Eric told me have godaddy set it up for me. Fair enough. So in the process of having them set it up I was able to screw it up but going though the online documentation from WordPress and following the instructions. This is where I edit the wp-config.php file and screw things up. In the process of doing that I got so overwhelmed with the passwords and user name that I ended up mixing two of them up. So a phone call and email to godaddy, and getting threatened with a $150 re-install charge, I finally was able to find the error in my ways. So bam! Change the password to the correct one and my blog is online, no some editing and customizing and here we are.
